Tapping RXA on Maxtrac/Maratrac

Post by adamj812 »

I am installing a discriminator tap on a Maratrac radio. After opening up and digging around I found that the Maratrac and Maxtrac have similar logic boards.

What I've done is installed a tap at RXA on the logic board with a 4.7uf capacitor inline with positive end connected to point RXA. Should I also put a resistor inline with this as the computer reads almost full scale audio at its lowest position, or will that filter the audio some and make it useless for decoding data. Is the capacitor I'm using too big? I was told I needed one to block the DC from the radio.

Is there maybe a better place to get nondemphasized audio? I've tried using the internal option connector, but I couldn't get enough level out of it. Now think I've got too much level.
