Use Older MIC on Newer CDM

Post by nfd-medic »

Hello All, I have a CDM 1550 free with no MIC it should take a RMN4038B. I have a box of HMN1061A's for the older Spectra Radios. Here's the my question can I cut the end off one of my older MIC's and crimp a RJ45 on the end and use the older MIC's? If so does someone have a PIN out so I can do this.

Thanks

Look here:

http://www.batlabs.com/htpro.html

In the middle somewhere it says the mic jack pinout is the
same as a Maxtrac, but it also says something about the
CDM's RJ45 jack having ten pins instead of eight.

http://www.batlabs.com is our sister site where information such
as this can usually be found.

Been there done that. What I need is a complete pin out for the rj45 jack on the cdm and a pin out for the jack of the Spectra MIC and maybe with the right combo I can get this to work or spend $25 on a used MIC

You wrote Spectra and I read Maxtrac. Sorry about that.
It's been a long day.

I can fully attest to 8-pin radius-style mics working A-OK in CDM series mobiles.

I have over 50 CDM1550-LS+ on rental, all using HMN1056 mics (well, dispatch is using HMN3000, still an 8-pin design though) and they work like a champ.

Just like with the programming cable, the outer two pins don't seem to matter. I don't even know what they are there for. Must be for some kind of data application.

Can you tell me the order of pins on the rj45 jack left to right with the large secure pin facing down? I have 6 wires to work with and one is not used at all(yellow). I have so far Pin1 is blank, pin2 yellow,pin3 grn, pin4 red, pin5 blk, pin6 blue, pin7 blank, pin8 white. I used this configuration following the Pins on a newer MIC that I know works.
