GP300 Issues

Post by Glenn »

I've got a VHF GP300, 146-174, 16 channel that I'm having problems with. The radio communicates fine with the VER R07.00 RSS and has let me enter in all my frequencies without errors. The problem is, the red transmit light flashes when the radio is turned on and it sounds like it has open squelch. The volume seems low as well. Also, when the PTT button is pushed, you get a beep. I have gone through my UHF GP300 checking those settings against the VHF settings and they both look alike.
Any ideas on what I'm missing or what the problem may be? Thanks in advance.....

Have you tried measuring the battery voltage? Sounds like low battery is a possibility to your issue.

Your GP300 needs to be aligned. The alignment settings are not the same as the UHF radio.

The Squelch can be set in your RSS, that seems to be really low causing the BUSY to flash the Red LED.

The BEEP at the begining of PTT could be the forced monitor setting.

Okay, not sure where to look now. The squelch setting was at 10 and the forced monitor is set to off.

It appears your squelch level is set too 'light' and is opening at the noise floor instead of a valid signal.

The beep on PTT is caused by the monitor button being set to 'forced monitor' in the RSS, and will cause this...reset the control to simply 'monitor'.

Align the radio, both TX and especially RX...adjust the PL deviation to no more than 750 Hz. @ 3 Khz. deviation level.

Too high a deviation level, and the filters can't strip off the PL tone and it passes to the receiver on the other radios.
