MTS 2000 programming questions

I have a UHF MTS2000 Model 1 Model #H01RDD9PW1BN, the radio shop could not get the radio to allow for user programable scan list with the abc switch. In additon, the radio sends out an ID burst at the end of each TX. Are these firmware issues? can this old a radio be upgraded etc???

The ID burst is most likely MDC or something. That can simply be disabled in the programming.

As far as the scan, I have never seen a MTS2000 that was not capable of setting the scan list the way you described. Again, simply in the programming.

Usually, when you find that you cannot assign a feature to either a control or a menu that you think you should be able to assign, it is because it already assigned somewhere else. Except for zone change, the ROS does not like multiple assignments and the RSS/CPS for various packages will intercept duplicate assignment attempts. So search and see if scan list program mode is assigned somewhere else.

the id burst most likely is from the radio itself and can be shut off or altered in the cps but it could also be an add on board or third party board in the radio so you can open it up and see if it's in there.

I'm almost sure I've seen posts indicating a Model I cannot have user scan...now to find it with the search engine...

All of my other Jedis are set up with user defined scan lists with the ABC switch. It maybe looking for a keypad if it was once a Model II/III, I have that issue with an XTS 3000 III in a Model I housing.

There are quite a few things that the HT1000 can do that some MTS2000 model 1s can't do.

The MTS2000 Model 1 CAN do a user programmable scan list. Try using the "2 position concentric switch". Use one position for Scan Program and leave the other blank. Like was mentioned earlier, ensure that Scan List program is not assigned to another switch or button-- or else it will not appear as a choice on this switch. I have configured several Model 1's this way.

Since you only get 48 channels with the model I version, you must use the ABC switch in its original capacity, and that is to select the three zones the radio has...

Setting scan program doesn't matter as you can only scan a single zone at a time, OR if you program ALL the channels into a single zone, THEN you can select ABC to toggle the scanning selection, but used in this manner defeats the purpose of zone selection and slows the scan rate down as well.

Don't forget that programming all channels into a single zone, you'll have to sequentially number each channel as they can no longer be handled in the normal fashion...IE...1-16, 1-16, 1-16.

You'll have to run them as 1-48 then program scan options to select your priority 1 and 2, then select how you want those channels handled by the scan list.....talkback, select...Etc..

A single zone for ALL channels gets confusing as the channel selector isn't a continuous rotary which jumps to the next bank of 16 automatically, which makes locating your first channel a little more difficult.

I prefer the three zones standard, then scan each zone as you toggle between them, with the channel selector being the priority #1 in all cases...this minimizes user error and makes scanning rate faster as well.

Zone 1 gets all your top used channels, zone 2 gets the second tier and so on.....A-1, B-2, C-3 as for usage.

I also program the concentric switch to toggle between high and low power for battery conservation...

But that's just my personal preference.

Top button is the light.

Second button is for scan.

Third button is for talkaround

Orange button is nuisance delete....or LID delete if you will.
