MOTOROLA P1225

Post by JD »

I have a P1225 vhf display. when turned on, only a * appears in the far left of the display. Could this be a crystal problem?
Radio will not do anything .
Thanks.

Seen it many times...try resoldering the 2-legged reference oscillator crystal towards the bottom of the board, fixes the problem 99% of the time. Otherwise it may need replacement.

Motorola does not offer this item any more, it has to go to depot. Any other vendor that might handle this 16.8 Mhz. crystal?
Thanks.

This is a good reason to save a few of those junker radios for spare parts down the road.

ICM has them for around $19 . Beats the flat rate repair of $195 Mototorla demands and I won't have to wait 4 weeks to get it repaired .
