Spectra VHF A5 Dashmount Recapping Question.

Post by Jhadds117 »

I recently purchased a Spectra VHF A5 Dashmount Radio on e-bay. While awaiting for this radio's delivery I have been getting my vehicle ready for the installation so I can just plug it in and start using it. During this process I have been coming across more and more info about these radios. I have heard and read about the "time bomb" capacitors leaking and causing damage to radio board and radio functionality. I have asked the seller on e-bay if the radio has been recapped and I am still awaiting an answer. I was wondering if anyone here offers the service of recapping these radios. I am a public safety professional, not an amateur radio operator or tech so I don't have the required skills to undertake this task on my own. From what I have read the parts only cost a few dollars, but it takes about a couple of hours to get the job done if you have the tools and know what you are doing. Thanks for you help in advance.
