Got a Spectra here that has ERR 17/10 then ERR 08/10 on power up. Radio works ok otherwise.
I did remove the Siren settings, this is a A5 Dash mount how could it have a siren. The ERR 08/10 went away. Checked all other settings I could find.
Still getting ERR 17/10 on power up, beeps, then works ok.
Anyone have a clue on the 17/10 ?

Does that have something to do with it being setting up for modem use?

Will,
The A5 could it have been a government radio? I had one with the same errors. It was a remote mount and had a double DB25 connector on the front. There was where the siren was attached. The other one I think was an external security unit that was attched.
Maybe this helps maybe it doesn't.

It may have. There is a DATA field in the F1 menu with some settings..Data Inhibit, Data inhibit control, TX path, Splater filter,, PL/DPL inhibit. I do not remember this menu item coming up on other radios.KB9KST wrote:Does that have something to do with it being setting up for modem use?

The radio is a 800 Conventional, 35 watt, no hacks that I can see. MLM serial and chassis serial number match.

For what (if anything) it may be worth:
In the "early" days of Automatic Vehicle Location (before WAAS-corrected on-board units were widely available), a number of agencies (especially EMS agencies) employed a system based on local GPS corrections. Required a good deal of two-way data. System employed 800 conventional Spectras for data haul to and from vehicles.
The ones I saw, though, had no control heads; a face plate akin to that used for rear-mounting mid-power Spectras was on the deck, and it led directly to the box running the Trimble GPS system.
