I own a Visar with the modelnumber H05KDH9AN7BN, so it's a VHF-unit with keyboard. As I already understood, this is a 'European Visar'. This caused already issues when reading the codeplug. The HT1000/Visar RSS (versions R03.02.01 and R03.03.00) were unable to read the Visar (errormessage that programmer is not compatible with radio).
Then I got the hint to use the GP900 RSS, and indeed this RSS (R06.06.00) was able to read the codeplug. This codeplug was saved by me to act as a backup in a worst-case scenario.
Afterwards I started to make some slight changes in the codeplug, and the RSS could also write the new data to the radio. But I was surprised when I noticed that it wasn't possible anymore to use the keyboard (to enter variable digits of the ZVEI-telegram) and also the backlight of the display and keypad remained off.
Writing the backup-codeplug in the radio didn't resolve the issue: the keypad didn't respond anymore (only error-beeps) and the backlight remained off.
When looking some deeper in the RSS, I could figure out that the radio is correctly recognized as a VHF-model (136-178 MHz), non-CENELEC. But it also showed to be a radio without a keyboard, allthough I can clearly see a keypad on my radio

Afterwards I also got the hint to use the GM900 RSS in stead of the GP900, but there were no changes in the behaviour.
So who knows which RSS I should use to use all functions of my great Visar?
