MTS2000 and mtsxv6.07

Ok I need a push in the right direction... I can read this radio all day long just fine, but when I try to turn right around WITHOUT TOUCHING A THING and F8 to program the radio it fails with a "Featureset of Codeplug does not match featureset of radio" error. When I try yo read using the windows MTS2000 software, the download from the radio begins and then the radio just re-boots.

What is the deal with this? Has anybody seen this before?

Just fyi, the PC in question is a toshiba Tecra 730 (P133) laptop with a real serial port.. It runs win98se when I need it..

are you shure it is an mts2000 and not a 9000 series with mts stickers on it? but check power in your rib and clean the contacts with a pencil eraser.

also note the model number ends in AN, if it is a real MTS2000, likely it isn't CPS compatible which would explain the behavior of the MTS CPS rebooting the radio. IIRC a radio has to have a controller with a firmware ver higher than 5.xx to work with CPS.
I had an early AN rev MTS2000 800 with a controller ver of 1.10. It was not a hacked MTX, a factory radio with the old style controller flex and pre-Flashport controller. It went to the depot and came back with a new RF board and controller, and 6.82 f/w...

as far as the DOS result, are you trying to CLONE another C/P? that is the error message you usually get when you are trying to clone codeplugs with different flashcode/firmware/feature sets.

I've never seen a firmware version that low...sometimes 1.2x or 1.3x. For sure the CPS will never work with it, even if it is a genuine MTS2000. Since you have LAB, you could try reading it, making the changes you desire, and saving it as a packed S-record. You should then be able to force in the S-record using the 'read/write with no pack/unpack' method. Forcing in a codeplug from another radio in this manner might even fix it so that you can read/write with RSS...forget about CPS though.

Since you have LAB, you could try reading it, making the changes you desire, and saving it as a packed S-record. Forcing in a codeplug from another radio in this manner might even fix it so that you can read/write with RSS...forget about CPS though.

Cant be huh?? Obviously you don't know how easy it is for someone to blast an MTS plug into an MTX controller... Maybe the orig controller took a crap, and a cheap fix was to replace it with a controller from an MTX... That firmware version is still very low, and I don't think I've seen a version that low on an MT/MTS/MTX..

they exist. I had one. It was 100 percent factory, made in 1992- controller had the old style interconnecting flex to the RF board. It was original. Had firmware ver 1.10. Would not read/write with CPS. Sent it off for an issue with the antenna connector being loose under flat rate, it came back with a new RF board AND controller. I doubt Motorola would have accepted it if someone put a hacked controller in it.

Just to close this thread-- I found the solution.. RSS 1.001. This portable is soo KRUSTY and ANCIENT that it requires a pre-historic RSS to program it. I am good to go..
