Radius M208 upgrade info

Post by radiocat37 »

It has quite some time since I have posted on the board. In the past I have blanked several maxtrac and radius logic boards in the past and convrted them to the 32-CH version. I have lost my instruction sheet (which Monty put together) and I am attempting to do one now and I am missing a step somewhere. I cannot remember at what point to install the 5.34 chip. I thought it was after reading the initial tuning values (then blank the board)....but I go to install the chip and I get no power on the radio. I went to the repeater builder site and it assumes I already have the chip in the radio. Since the maxlab reads maxtrac and not radius...I cannot read the radio from there. Help....

Hello radiocat37:
You actualy need the radmbl program for the radius M208.
But i think i recall reading from another post that you had the option in the blanking to blank but save all tuning values.
Dont count on that but i think i read that.
Also it really doesnt matter when the 5.34 chip gets put in to my knowlegde - can be before or after blanking.
Blanking does not affect the 5.34 chip.
If your making a 32 ch version and have the HLN9313 logic bd with the 16 pins and the maxtrac program id blank and reinitiate as a Maxtrac 300 32ch model and read/program it as a Maxtrac .
It will still look like the Radius M208 in apperarace but it will be the 32ch Maxtrac after you reinitiate it with Maxtrac program.
You should realign the radios tuning to be sure its operating corectly after doing so unless you used the same logic bd with the same rf bd and saved the tuning info.
Good luck.

satellite,

I have the radmbl RSS. I am able to read and get all tuning values just fine. I remember going through this before...The radmbl does not have a selection that says "make blank board". That is where I am getting thrown off. I go to the maxlab and select make blank board and I get error number 7.

:o

Radio is a lowband 42-50 D51LRA9734BK.

Hello radiocat37 :
Error code #7 is a serial port comunications problem.
If you can read it with the radmbl program then its not a cable or rib
at fault.
My qeuss is in the maxtrac program that you have brought up on the computer screen is on the wrong com port.
Check the computer path selected in the maxtrac program and see what com port you have selected and try the other port.
Betting you might have the wrong com port selected in your maxtrac program.

Holy smokes......I have been going mental over this....I go to F9 to look at computer set-up. Guess what, COM port 2 was selected. I selected COM port 1 and all is good again. The COM 1 was selected in the RADMBL so it worked.

If you ever in Asheville.....a round is on me.

Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!!!

I now have a 32-CH high sig Low band maxtrac 300.......
