Programming an Astro Saber Using Impres Battery?

Post by PeterGV »

I wanted to do some programming updates to my Astro Saber I (host 07.25.00) so I snapped on a new, initialized, fully charged Impres battery (HNN9033B, high capacity NiCad) and tried to read the radio in CPS.

Result: Loooong delay and then "Can't read device"

Turned the radio on an off. Removed and screwed the cable back on. Checked all the connections and retried. Same result.

Swapped the battery to an older (recently charged) Abell Technology battery NiCad and retried. It immediately worked.

Anybody have any wisdom for me here? What in the world is going on?

Just curious if you tested the output voltage of the battery with a voltmeter?

No, I didn't (my multimeter was in the other room at the time). Good thought -- that'll be the next thing I check.
