CDM1250 Scan Problem

Post by fireguy810 »

I have a CDM1250 UHF programmed with two different scan lists. I assigned each channel to a list and when I am in scan mode it will not stop on a active channel. I thought it may be the delay to pick up the PL but no matter how long I transmit on the receiving freq, it will not pick it up.

Any ideas???

Can you receive fine on the channel without the scan on? What are the parameters you have setup for each scan list? Also, dumb question, is each scan list assigned in the personality?

1. To use the scan function with the CDM class of radios, you have to understand how it works.

A) After creating your channels ("personalities") (Personality Screen) and populating your zones (by pointing each zone slot to a personality) (Zone/Channel Assignment Screen), you create scan lists (Scan List Screen). Each scan list contains up to 15 members. A member may be either "<SelCh>" or a pointer to a zone and slot.

B) After doing that, you go back to the Personality Screen and "associate" each personality with one scan list.

2. Whatever channel is at any moment selected by the channel selector is known as the "Selected Channel." Whenever scan is invoked, it will employ the scan list that is "associated" with the Selected Channel, and it will then scan the members of that scan list. Note that if "SelChan" is a member of a list, then the Selected Channel will be temporarily added to the scan list if it is not a regular member.

Mods: this is a recurring question; a sticky appropriate?

3/ Note:

A) A given zone/slot can be a member of any number of scan lists.
B) A given scan list can be associated with any number of personalities.
C) Each personality can be associated with only one scan list.

4. This metaphor, which actually works quite well for public safety radios, is completely differnt from what you may be used to using comsumer-type scanning receivers (which tend to scan the entire channel bank or banks). Read the foregoing carefully, consult the CPS help files, review the Tutorial (if available) on the CPS CD, and then try again.

If you have one of the scan lists assigned for each channel and you still have problems, try adding <selected> to each list. I've had problems receiving scanned channels if <selected> wasn't in the list, seems to be a bug.

thanks everyone. Turns out I hadn't installed the mic bracket yet. Did it today, hung the mic and it works fine now. Thank you all for your help.

you can turn the hub feature off in the cps then it won't matter where the mic is.
