900 MHZ GFB analog-plus (i.e. it programs with a PC) station. Has old firmware (SSCB:3,xx, TTRC:4.xx). Can't read the existing code plug. Installed newer, known good firmware (SSCB & TTRC 5.xx). Created a new code plug from CONV_3.DEF and when I try writing it, the software says I'm trying to send a V5 code plug to a V3 station, and won't let me do that. The software will only up-convert versions. I also tried creating a new code plug from CONV.DEF, and the station won't take that either.
I'm pretty sure if there was a way to clear some of the memory in the station, it would take the new code plug, but there's nothing published about doing that. Installing new firmware is supposed to clear and reset things in preparation for a new code plug, but that doesn't seem to have happened like it did on my UHF stations.
Anyone ever encountered this? Anyone have a solution?
Thanks and Happy Holidays.

Re: MSF5000 won't accept code plug
Hi Bob,
Long time..... I ran into a similar situation a while back and for some strange reason I was able to do things with the codeplug using version 4.08 release date of 4/01/91. Don't ask me how or why.

May the Schwarz be with you.
Re: MSF5000 won't accept code plug
Last time I ran into this issue was with a TTRC board in a UHF station. I think I ended up having to install new TTRC firmware on the board that was V 5.34 or something like that in order to get the station to program. Sounds like you need to upgrade the station firmware in order to get the software to load it.kcbooboo wrote:900 MHZ GFB analog-plus (i.e. it programs with a PC) station. There's also that "Upgrade Codeplug Version" screen in the RSS... But it sounds like you've already tinkered with that.
Re: MSF5000 won't accept code plug
As mentioned in the original post, new SSCB and TTRC firmware was installed with no help. As wel can't read the original code plug, we can't do the "upgrade to new version" thing.
This unit originally had V3 firmware, and I read a note somewhere that using a specific version of programming software can leave the station with an invalid code plug. Of course, it didn't say how to correct that situation, and I gather there's no way to do it in the field.
