Does anyone know if you can push a mts2000 800mhz codeplug onto a mtx8000 800mhz radio. I have a MTS2000 radio and need to purchase another radio but for the sake of saving some cash, is it possible to buy an mtx and put the codeplug on it from the mts. My MTS has a flashcode of 0000040000006, or does it not matter when it comes to the mtx.
Thanks for your help.

Yes you can with lab, but many of the MTS features may not work.

Not to hijack your thread, but a related question.... Could that radio then be programmed with CPS?

no, an MTX controller with a hacked MTS codeplug will usually read, but always fail to write. Usually ends up hosing the codeplug in the MTX and requires an S-record to be reloaded. Also, as Jake mentioned, features such as failsoft by TG, dynamic regroup, etc may not work. Would not use it in a mission critical application either.
