Radius Questions

Post by MB »

I have a Motorola Radius Mobile.

Model # D51LRA9P34AK

All it says on the front of the radio is Radius. I know it is a 60w low band (42-50Mhz).
How can I tell what to reference the radio as when I am looking for cables and software?
Does anyone know what version of RSS I should use, or what cables to use?

Can I use a "ribless" cable to program this? Like this one?

Thanks,
Mike

You need radmbl.exe for the m100 m200.
Not Maxtrac or GM300
And a slow computer with a serial port and DOS only.
That cable should work.

So your saying my radio is a m100 or m200? How do I know for sure?

What is radmbl.exe? Does it take the place of RSS or CPS?

I know its not an M100, because I compared it to a picture that I found on Batlabs. It may be a M200 though. Does anyone have a picture of a M200?

It doesn't matter! What are you trying to do?????
To program it you need radmbl.exe (and all the associated files) which I believe are NLA from Moto.
It runs under DOS, which was before Windows.....
Goto repeater-builder.com they have TONS of great info to research.

I am trying to program some more frequencies into the radio.

What does "NLA" mean? Does that mean no longer available? If so, then where could I purchase it??

Could I use an old Windows95 computer and just boot it up to DOS?

That model number is a Radius M214 60W 42-50 MHz.

It does require the "RADMBL" RSS which requires a DOS 486 or slower computer. The software is no longer available.

If you have only one radio and do not have a proper computer, RIB, cable and RSS the best solution is to take it to a Motorola dealer and have it programmed for probably less than $50 rather than spending a fortune and a lot of wasted effort on attempting to obtain everything you need to program it.

My local radio shops will not program it for me. Does anyone know of someone that could program it for me?

I would really like to do it myself, though. If only I could figure out where to get software and hardware!

You have been given the best possible advice. Find a shop or find someone to program it for you.

You obviously don't know much about what you're wanting to get into. Curiousity can kill the cat. It can eat up your pocketbook too...

Thanks for all the advise! This board is great. Your right, I had no idea as to what I was getting into, but I think I am going to try to do it myself unless I can find someone here on this board to program it for me.

Where are you located? If you're local to me, I'll be happy to arrange to meet with you and program it for you. If you're not local to me, I'll be happy to help you out if you cover shipping both ways.

Does anyone know how many channels this radio has? 16, or 32?
