MTS2000 Mdl III

Post by gatekeep »

I have an MTS2000 Mdl III, that, I've already asked questions about (programming issues). Now I have one problem, the radio works 100% no problems whatsoever, however, I have noticed that it seems to be in a perpetual list programming mode (you know that rectangle indicator that is displayed when you are modifying lists).

Heres the situation:
  • If scan mode is on (from turning radio on) or is turned on by the operator, the scan indicator will appear and shortly there-after the programming mode indicator will appear (solid not flashing).

If scan mode is OFF (from turning the radio on), the scan indicator obviously doesn't appear, and the programming mode indicator never appears.
So it would seem to be dependent on whether scan is on or not. Having scan on seems to cause an issue with a channel being in direct or repeater, if scan is enabled, it seems to disregard the fact that the radio is in direct and transmits over the repeater.

Simplex channels work fine, with no problems. The actual scan ability is also unaffected and works properly.

My question is has anyone run into a problem like this before? And if it isn't a problem, perhaps someone could shed some light on-to its meaning?

Radio Info:
Firmware: R6.27
Model: H01RDH9PW1BN
Flashcode: 231104-10D300-3

My guess is that you have programmed "scan program" to a button or switch function, perhaps without realizing it. Where we allow user scan list programming, we do it my menu item, for the reason (among others) that you will eventually time out of scan program mode.

Scan programming is not assigned to a button and is assigned to a menu option ... (the prog menu item).

My buttons are setup like so:
Green Button - Light
1 Button - MPL
2 Button - Monitor
Orange Button - Nuisance Delete

My switches are setup like so:
A - Keypad lock
B - Blank
C - PL Disable

Cocentric A - Talkaround/Direct
Cocentric B - Blank

The programming indicator never disappears of the screen (as it would if you were in programming mode)...and it is not blinking (as it would if you were in programming mode).

I'm gonna pose this, as I think I've narrowed down why the indicator appears.

As I was playing with the radio today, I stepped through the channels on the radio, what I noticed was, from a cold boot on a channel that is < then 470mhz the radio will never display the persistent programming indicator. However, if I step through the channels and land on a channel that is > 470mhz the radio will display the programming indicator on the display, until the radio is rebooted on a channel < 470mhz.

Does this make sense to anyone?
