IV&D and scanners

If a P25 system includes both integrated voice and data (eg low-speed data, as oppossed to HPD) how do the current digital (astro-decoding, 9600 baud cc) scanners handle a channel assignment when a Quantar or GTR8000 start sending data? Do the current scanner skip the channels, assign the channels in the scanner, but go silent, or ?? There isn't a system nearby that I can test/listen, however, some are discussing major upgrades to include low-speed data... Just wondering how this multi-million dollar upgrade will affect my $500 scanners
