Repeater linking via the Internet

Post by zs6hz »

Hi,

Has anyone sucessfully linked two MTR-2000's via the Internet?

How do I go about doing this quickly, yet with good reliability?

I look forward to excellent advice as usual from this forum.

There's a fellow Batlabber, /\/\y2cents, who works for a company called Critical RF that offers several different IP based products that can do what you need. Here's a link to a spec sheet for the one I think you would be interested in:

http://www.criticalrf.com/packetnew.pdf

The cost & bandwidth requirements are supposed to be reasonable compared to other offerings, but it's best to give them a call at the numbers on the document.

Two other products you might look at are:

1) RAD, Pseudowire, IPmux-1E

2) Omnitronics, IPR100, and IPR400.

I am look at the Omnitronics as it does voice compresion, the RAD unit does not.

The JPS Communications NXU-2 is a good choice. Bandwidth is limted to the one voice channel plus overhead, and it's direct IP to Discrete Interface.

Wow, thanks for the replies.

I've got quite a lot of browsing to do now, but I'm sure I'll find the solution.

I have also had great success using the IP-223's from Telex.

Thanks to everyone for their responses. I have settled on the JPS NXU-2 unit as there is a local representative here. Also, it looks like a quality product.

Cheers,
Marc
