Browsing a popular auction site, I found this. DPW? Wouldn't that denote a 2013 make?

That is a depot assigned S/N. It's not the first one I have seen on a XTS5000. So I would guess it was a 123ABC1234 radio that went in, and came back. I sent in a nick radio to the depot a few years ago and that is what I got also.

I have a couple of MTS2000s that were sent in for flash upgrade and came back with "DPT" for the letters and a letter in the last digit that is normally a number...sounds like the same thing.

yep, have a couple of HT600's that have 649DEPxxxx that were depoted at one time.
