Last Order Date: 1/31/2008
Last Ship Date: 2/28/2008

Customer Impact:
Affects customers using mixed mode systems. The ASTRO modem eliminates the need for a secondary leased line and associated costs.
• If a mixed mode operation is required, then the ASTRO modem is the only current solution on a single 4-wire link.

Workaround:
Customers who need mixed mode over 4 wire circuits will have to install a second 4-wire phone line and run hybrid links instead.

• Customers who need mixed mode over 4 wire circuits will have to install a second 4 wire line and run hybrid links instead.
• Customers may need to install external off the shelf modems and V.24 cards

Recommendation for new System Sales:
• Customers who need mixed mode over 4 wire circuits will have to install a second phone line and run hybrid links instead. They may also need to purchase external off the shelf modems and V.24 cards, depending on the configuration.

Looks like they're trying to kill off the 4.1 Systems.

My evaluation is that MOTOROLA's Secure Design Center Product Engineering Group in Schaumburg lost their internal ability to provide the manufacturing of the Astro modems and they couldn't find an adaquate Outsource company to provide this module or service.
