XTS3000 Doesn't Play Nice With Repeaters

Post by dungonmyshoe »

So I bought this XTS3000R on eBay a while ago and ever since I have had it there has been this little issue with it. When I use it on simplex frequencies I have no problem receiving and transmitting. But then I go to use my repeater channels and start to have issues. For the first few minutes everything works fine. I can hear transmissions perfectly and transmit without a problem. Then all of a sudden the radio starts to "break up" when receiving transmissions. The transmissions come in very choppy and I am barely able to understand what is being said. This happens whether I am out in an open field with no obstructions or in a building. I can even have another radio (not an XTS) next to me and have no problems hearing what is being transmitted. Any ideas as to what the issue might be?

you need to get the radio as Doug said, on a service monitor/analyzer. post in your profile where you live, never know who maybe down the road from you!

well, that's an Ebay XTS for ya, hope you didn't shell out too much for it. Check with N7MAQ, he isn't in LV, but not too far away and does excellent work. Aligning one of these things can be a challenge, especially if it's P25 CAI enabled. It also takes a pretty damn expensive piece of test equipment to do it.
