XTL 2500 Control Head - Won't Program Memu Items

Post by tpfithian »

Hello,

Thanks all for providing abundtant information. I now become a "poster" in need of some assistance.

I have been programming radios for quite some time, all Moto products, but numerous models both portable and mobile. I can tell you though, whom ever at Moto decided that the "NEW" CPS versions (XTL/XTS) was more "user friendly" then the older MCS/CDM, etc. hasn't programmed a radio in quite some time :-)

To the question and problem:

I am programming our first (of many) XTL 2500 VHF with Control Head using CPS R.11. In the CPS, the control head option, the buttons that normally can be programmed, like scan, DIR, menu, etc., are just blank grey boxes. The only CPS user programmable button is the orange "emergency" button.

Help??? Why does the control head not allow me to assign user defined functions for these buttons that are on the control head?

Thanks.

Those are "soft" buttons, you can't program them directly. What you do is add items to the menu, the menu items will appear above the buttons. If there are more menu items than buttons you'll be able to scroll the menu, so different items will be over the buttons.. that's why you can't set them each for a specific function.

Thanks. I actually figured that out before I read the reply.

I really appreciate the help though - in case I was still stuck.
