GM 300 which version is my radio?

Post by stuarticus »

Hi there, i bought this radio with thoughts of making a base and learning things from scratch, i had been a cb'r a long time back when 'that was the thing to do' ok so i'm not perfect, i guess you guys may shun the poor lost cb? That asside i want to learn all things Ham and love radio and coms in general, after becoming dissabled it seems a great thing to concentrate on. However i have been told that this radio may not be as good a start as i thought as it may be trunked or mabe a four chanel variety and other not good stuff related to exactly which variety of 300 it is. There seems no clear way to tell from looking at it and powering it up, not all plugged in just a lights on check to see if it lit up etc, i powered it up and it did that with a beep, i tried pressing buttons (not transmit!) mic was not attached either, this may have been a cause come to think..? Anyway the chanel indicator stayed at one and the scan button etc had simmilar lack of response, except the bleeps! I just wanted an indication of health before i spent more on it etc! I will give you the info on the radio and hope theres a wise man out there who xan give me an idea of where to turn next of whether to stop ant try another radio altogether?
ok Radius GM300.motorola inc 9522. fcc ABZ99FT3030. TANAPA :HUD3599A. MODEL:M33GMC00D2AA SER/ NO deSerie: 159TVJM437
I have written even the bits that were probably silly but i remembered being told a long time back that even the number beside the manufacturer sometimes gives help with stuff like when the company did this or that, like pottery marks. Ok i do sound silly now but i know that somewhere someone with way more brains and intelect than i could dream of can use the info for something?
ok i look forward to hearing from you guys/ or girls too i expect!
thanks

Search the internet and ye shall find. On the main batlabs pages, here is the information concernign your radio. It even has a model number decoder, but it looks as if you have a 8 channel VHF radio. Nothing wrong with it if you are not in need of a lot of channels.
