MTS2000 Tx HUM
I've started noticing lately that my MTS2000 has a slight hum in the background, now its not noticeable while speaking (at all as its very low-lying). Is this hum an indication of anything I should be worried about, my previous MTS2000 (which was a Model II) has a problem with its RF deck with bad electrical noises, could this be a indication of something like that occurring? Or is it just normal operating garbage I shouldn't worry myself with?

"So the best solution is to paint them to blue color and throw them to the sea?" in reference to MTS2000 F01/93.

Are both of your MTS2000s "K" split (VHF) by chance?
I assume that you've ruled out the "electrical noise" as coming from an outside source, correct?
Reason I'm asking this is because I had strange noise problems on a VHF JEDI at the last two places I lived. I could have sworn something was wrong with the radio. I got a Yaesu handheld and it did the same thing!
If I get either one of these radios away from the house for any distance, they seem to be OK. Except for propwash that pops up through the repeater from time to time, I haven't figured out the source of the intermittent hum and other electrical noise.

No its a UHF, I've tried it at a distance from another radio, doesn't seem to make a difference. Once I start talking on the radio, though, you can't hear the hum at all.

What you describe, the TX "hum" is probably bad or incorrect alignment. Common problem
The "electrical noises" can be loose or corroded shield connections.. Common problem.
Loose antenna jack. Common problem.
Have you swapped boards?
