EF Johnson 5100 and SZ4.1 Database

Post by fineshot1 »

We recently upgraded from Smartnet to SZ4.1 and seem to have a problem with entering the EFJ 5100 serial numbers in the SZ4.1 DB. The EFJ serial number string is too long to enter in the SZ DB. Anyone encounter this problem and or have a work around / solution? I am thinking Motorola must resolve this(probably a hot MTUG issue) cause we can not be the only ones with this problem but was looking for any and all input or comments.

We enter in the EFJ serial number using the first letter, which is usually an "A".
If we need to search for a specific number we then use a wildcard search should someone forget to do this correctly.

The other option is to put the RID in the serial # slot and use a seperate spreadsheet to cross reference.

OK Mark - I think we will try your first method. After looking over that EFJ serial number the first 4 digits
look like the model number which is not needed so probably take you up on that suggestion.
Many thanks.....dan
