VISAR PROGRAMMNG PROBLEMS
I have tried three different computers and 2 different rib boxes(original motorola) and am getting an error that says my rib may not be powered, pc to rib no good, or rib failure. I only get this message wihen trying to program a visar. I can program all other types of radios just fine with the rib box and cables. Any one had this problem before? If so, how did you correct it. And have also tried 3 different versions of the software that i have from motorola (original disks). I can read the HT1000s fine.

Re: VISAR PROGRAMMNG PROBLEMS
ASSuming you are using pure DOS, and ASSuming you've ohmed out your cable to verify the pins are correct, you may have a bad connection in the UC flex. have you tried to read any other Visar to rule out the cable?

Re: VISAR PROGRAMMNG PROBLEMS
I can't program any other type of visar equipment... I only have 5 visar VX-800's.. I tried programming/reading all 5 with the same results. I have checked all my cables and they all seem fine, all are factory cables and a factory rib box. This only happens with visar radios. This is the first time that I have had this problem....I have programmed them before with the exact same equipment. I am truly stumped on this one. I guess I have to look into the program itself (even though I've installed it on several computers, all with the same result) Last thing that I can think of is that somewhere (DOS) got corrupted by some type of windows update...I have no clue. Thanks for the response.

Ok, a VX800 would be a vertex radio and while sorta the size of a visar, it's not the same in just about any way.

The visar uses the same software as the HT1000, which needs to run in prue DOS, not a DOS window.
What computer are you using? Speed, etc? Factory RIB? Etc???

Re: VISAR PROGRAMMNG PROBLEMS
if they are 800MHz trunked Visars, they use a different RSS package than the conventional HT1000/Visars, IIRC the RSS was specifically for PrivacyPlus 800 and 900MHz Visars. This could be your problem, wrong RSS. The controllers are very different between the two types of radios...ittelecom wrote:I can't program any other type of visar equipment... Re: VISAR PROGRAMMNG PROBLEMS
OK, I'm sorry...I had a VX800 in my hand when I posted the question about the visar. I do have problems with VISAR programming software. Anyway, I have factory cables, factory rib and factory HT1000/VISAR software. I am running the software on a Windows 98 Platform (which can be booted into a pure DOS enviroment) on a IBM Thinkpad E390. The processor speed is 1.5GHz. I have tested my cables (ohmed them out), tested my rib with other models of radios, which in turn tests the pc to rib cable. Today, I had a different failure. Instead of telling me that the rib was not on or powered. It is now saying that the radio is off or battery power is low. I have swapped batteries, tried programming 4 other visars and all now say the same... Should I just cut my losses and dump the VISARs, they are VHF models. Does anyone know what the lastes revision of HT1000/VISAR software is. I haven't checked in a while. The software works fine with HT1000's...Thanks for everyones help.
