making the radio louder isn't always the cure, if you are around something so loud that you need a louder radio you might want to look into something like a headset or earpeace that will block out the surrounding noise? osha puts limits on things like that

no it won't get any louder, it's plenty loud as it is, if it's not enuf then you need to find a way to get rid or block out the surrounding noise that makes it so you can't hear it.

Try a speaker mic, or a ear piece of some sort. Get the audio closer to you and you may solve your problem.

If you have a Professional Series portable (i.e. HT750, 1250, etc.) that doesn't seem to be as loud as the others, the Rated Volume can be adjusted in the Tuner software (not the CPS / RSS.) Read the radio with the Tuner, click RX Align and choose Rated Volume > Carrier Squelch from the drop down menu. The factory setting is typically 205 - 210, but I have seen some much lower and those units had rather weak receive audio. It seems that if you upgrade a radio from a very old firmware version, this sometimes happens. If your radio has normal audio and you want it louder, this adjustment will not make it louder, only more distorted.

There is another way. I am not sure where the revision with the flex that the speaker/mic started but the radios with the old housing had a much lower volume level. I removed the flex and replaced the speaker with the newest revision speaker on the flex that is revision B and this did not work. So I removed the flex\speaker and mic from my LS+(flex rev F) and put it in my VHF HT1250 and it must be the flex that fixed that problem. Both are set to 210 in the tuner and Firmware does not make a differance. I have not been able to find a P/N for a kit to fix this so it would be easy repair but you can order the NEW flex and its capacitor and that should fix it. I plan to try it in the next month or so as I get time.
