Keyloading an Astro Spectra Dash Mount

Post by Greg2561 »

I have an 800 MHz Astro Spectra that was a remote mount radio and has been converted to a dash mount. The radio has multikey encryption and currently has 2 keys loaded which I use with an astro saber. I have a couple other radios that have encryption modules and need to keyload them as well. I have never done keyloading, but as I understand it, a key can not be read from the radio, only written. If that is the case I will need to have the whole group of radios keyloaded. The guy that is going to do it for me has the cable for the spectra, but has never keyloaded a spectra, so....
My question is......Can he keyload it through the mic jack, or would it have to be returned to a remote mount in order for it to be loaded?

Thanks,
Greg

You will have no problems keyloading this through the mic jack. You are correct in you will need to re-key the rest of the radios as you can not read keys from the radio.

Excellent. I was already figuring how much garbage I was gonna have to go through to take the radio out, make it remote again, then redo the whole porocess in reverse once it was done. Thanks a lot. Greg.
