Jedi accessory connector with an XTS?

Post by FireCpt809 »

Will a Jedi accessory connector work with an XTS? I change from a commander mic when I am working to " bareback" when I am home. The XTS cover is a pain to get on and off and I have lost one already..

If I assume correctly that you're referring to a Jedi accessory cover working with an XTS, then yes, with a little work with an xacto knife, it can be made to work. I started by chopping off the antenna retainer because it just doesn't quite fit (the base of the XTS antenna is slightly higher than the base of the Jedi antenna). The other thing you'll have to do is to trim the top retaining tab a bit - the bottom one is fine. I can try and get you a pic of the ones I did later tonight.

Another option would simply be to throw an audio accy adapter on there when you're not using the speakermic. Makes a nice thumb-hold too.

I have seen (but do not have and do not have a p/n for) an XTS accessory connector cover that comes off with only your thumb; no tools required.

Except that's not the one that comes off with the thumb... that's the standard screwdriver/key *wee woo patinK* snapoff dust cover.

Thats a really good idea by using a Jedi cover and trimming off the excess "fat." The ones that are standart with the XTS radios are really a pain to get off ut at least they won't fall off.
