Xts5000 error (radio failed to acknowledge)

Ok, so i bought a cable for my xts5k and when i try and read the radio it says(radio fail to acknowledge) this is a ribless cable which i bought on ebay..i bought it from a well known seller who i have bought many cables from in the past .but for some reason i cant read my radio.Now it is fully charged so what else besides the fact i might have a bad cable ..what could be the problem????? please help

Incorrect COM port specified in the CPS options? would be helpful if you posted the exact message and exception code.

thank you all for the help but with some tinkering around and the help of Hightower and Kb9suy it now works great
