Syntor X
I have a syntor X on 800 mhz and I'm curious to know if the programing of these radios are still possible since I would like to get it programed the other question I have do the syntors use a eprom chip like the delta and ranger radios ? it would be easier just to pull this out rather then send out the unit...

Re: Syntor X
Yes, its possible to program them, but you may have to find someone with an old "suitcase" programmer to do it for you. There are a few programs available which will generate a codeplug which can then be programmed into the EEPROM with a standard PROM burner, but I don't think any of them support 800 MHz. There is indeed a removable EEPROM that you can easily pull and send to someone for programming. It resides in a module that plugs into the radio's personality board. With the bottom cover removed, look a little behind the connector the control head cable plugs into. You should see a black plastic "box", app. (going from memory here) 2.5-3" wide, 0.5-0.75" thick, and 2" tall. IIRC, it says "Memory Module" on the side. This assembly houses the EEPROM, and unplugs by pulling straight up on it. I believe that Andy Brinkly (thats both his name and board username) here on the board can program them, and I'm sure that there are others who can as well. Bruce Lane (username KC7GR on the board) is another possibility. Best of luck.

Re: Syntor X
You're correct about the requirement for the 'suitcase' programmer. Fortunately, I got hold of one recently, so I can do the conventional 800 radios. Trunking, though... nope.
PM me if needed.
Thanks.
