Spectra RX PL died

Post by ke4zdg »

My 110w VHF Spectra's RX TPL quit working. The busy light comes on when I transmit on an HT nearby, but the receiver won't unmute. TX PL works normally.

Now for the weird part. When I try the same with DPL, it works perfectly. Busy light comes on and radio unmutes.

Any ideas? I have a spare command board. Any chance this function lives on the command board, or would it be a problem with the radio and/or VCO boards?

I would try reloading the codeplug with a different PL and see if that works. Delete that mode and create a new one. Try a few different things before you replace the C.B. Also are you sure you have the same PL code in both radios? You might also try and move the radio some distance from the mobile, I have seen that sometimes the RF that some portables put out create a problem with the radio Rxing at all.

I tried it using MPL with several PL codes on several different modes. I also tried it with a repeater and got the same results, so it's not RFI.

I'm gonna try a new command board tomorrow and see what happens.
