[Question regarding XTS5000 last programed with version]

Post by SnoForum173 »

Hello. I have an XTS5000 I reciently picked up. Is there a way to find out which version of software it has been previously programmed with? I know with the MT2000's you press a series of buttons upon power-up and then the sceen shows which version of software it was programmed with. Is there a similar method for the XTS5000?

Thanks.

You're talking about the MTS2000 test mode, which also works for the XTS5000. However, it does not show last programmed version for either one, although it does give a lot of other information (model#, ser#, flashcode, firmware version, etc). There's no way to tell what version of CPS they were last programmed with, other than trying to read it with multiple versions until you can read it.

what's it's firmware version? that's a good place to start, that will tell you a minimum cps version.

I think the Firmware # is 1000010000025? Does that sound like a Firmware #?.. its on the back of the radio. I am going to get version 10.0.0 Astro25 CPS, will this program an XTS5000 for sure? I think there is a version 9 Astro25 CPS as well. If the radio was programmed with v9 will v10 work?
Thanks.

The number you gave is the flashcode. The firmware is the host and DSP
numbers that show on the display when you run the radio through its information
display at startup. There is a version 11 but it's not
widely used--yet. If you own CPS version 9 and the radio was last programmed with
version 10 you're screwed, so get 11 and you'll be right up to date.

The flashcode, as opposed to the firmware, is the setup of features that were
put into the radio, usually when it was manufactured although these can be
revised later. Your radio looks like it has a basic factory flashcode. If you plan
to get the radio's flashcode upgraded/enhanced/improved you definitely want to
have the latest CPS for programming to avoid conflicts and problems.
