Finding a COR inside an SM50

Post by kd8ake »

Can any one tell me where to find a spot inside the SM50 to use as a COR. I need a spot that has a power change on RX from o-3vdc to 5-10vdc. I know the Maxtrac has a spot like this.

Never tried on SM-50, but check one speaker lead to ground and see if bias voltage goes on and off with receive.

I'd try to avoid using the speaker lead.. some of those chips can get cranky if they see any imbalance on the outputs.. there's usually a mute lead that goes from 0V to B+ on receive. I don't recall which chip the SM50 has off the top of my head, I can check tomorrow.

Did I miss something here? On the one and only time I needed COR from a SM50, I just used the output from the 16 pin connector on the rear.

Yup, looks like Pin 8 is programmable COR. Didn't have a manual handy, but I should've checked here: http://batlabs.com/sm50.html

Speaker trick is down and dirty for 5 pin maxtrac. Works for hi impedence logic, wouldn,t hang
a 40 amp relay off it. Back to basics, SM50, use pin 8 as COR - DOH!
