GR1225 Repeater hanging up

Post by radioservice »

Hi,
I'm working on a UHF Gr1225 repeater that works fine in standby, but when it gets keyed by the front panel mic it stays keyed until I cycle the power switch. I get full power out when it transmits and the receive sensitivity is fine.

I'm open to any suggestion that don't involve swapping out components....I have no other unit to swap with...

Thanks!

That seems to be a common thing if using a mobile mic on the front panel. Every one of them that I service will do that. I haven't dug into the circuitry because, in my case, the only time a mic is hooked up is when I'm on site and want to check power, freq, etc. I just automatically cycle power to unkey. I do service one that has a desk mic hooked to it and it doesn't have that problem.

Which model mic is it? When I'm setting up or repairing one I always key it with a mobile mic (HMN1056D) and I've never had a problem, maybe it's just those little black radius mics that hang keyed?

That may be the problem in my case. I usually grab the mic from my CDM mobile for testing and it is one of the little black ones.

The problem is in the GR1225 dashboard. PTT pullup is not enough to pull up some mics.

The CDM mic will do this every time. Never had any problems with the Radius mics.

Absolutely right!...I had a chance to put it to the test today with three GR1225s side by side and each one hung up with the CDM Mic, not one was affected by the HMN1056 radius mic....Thank you every one, for your guidance...much appreciated!
