Maxtrac Error Beep ?

Post by wa6gre »

I got a Low-Band auction Special Maxtrac in today. At least the seller had the honesty to say up front it would not turn on.
Problem was a blown fuse on the Logic Board. Replaced it and it turns on and I can read the code-plug.
Now the question: when I turn it on I get two beeps, the usual turn-on beep followed by a similar but lower frequency beep.
When I finish reading the code-plug I get the same. The higher frequency beep that it has finished reading the code-plug followed
by that same lower frequency beep. I suspect that low freq beep indicates a problem, but I don't remember(or never knew)
what it meant.

Can someone enlighten me.

Thanks and 73, Dick, W1KSZ

The 2nd beep is probably due to a lack of emergency jumper on the accessory plug, pin 7 to pin 9.

You can either add the jumper, or defeat it in RSS on one of the Options screens.
