Hi All, A friend gave me what he said is a base station, here are the details. the model # is:T1786B, it hase a Syntor X and had a SM 120 both vhf. there is a Syntor X control head and cable and a power cable and a plug that went to the SM 120 [the SM 120 is gone, the guy that gave me this needed it] there is a piece of white teflon coax the went to the ant connector on the SM 120, the other end goes in to the Syntor X. it connects to the HLN 4250A board. any idea what this is? [ In the above mentioning a SM 120 it might have been a maxtrac he wasn't sure]
Thanks
Steve

Re: Motorola Base ????
Sounds like the repeater / base stations the guy over in Evansville, IN had been making for years. I believe he has made them with everything from Micors, Syntors, Syntors X9000's and as a transmitter and a SM120 or Maxtrac as the reciever. He probably has them working all over the area up there and has been selling them on the internet for sometime now. Does not sound like something from Motorola themselves.

Re: Motorola Base ????
Scott, I think you are correct, it came from Indiana, close to Indy. Why would the rf out of the Sm 120 be going to the Syntor X for? I am hoping I can replace the Syntor with a uhf and find a uhf SM 120 and make me a repeater. I was thinking the guy I got it from said Motorola made it but he may have been mistaken.is the model on the cabinet just a genaric for a empty cabinet?
Thanks
Steve

Housings are found empty for a variety of reasons. Mostly a repeater is pulled from a factory housing so that it can be rack mounted at a site for space considerations. I have several empty repeater housings sitting in my shop right now gathering dust. I could nto begin to tell you what was orginally in them.
Never judge what is in a repeater housign soley based on what the model numbers on the housing say. Many a reapeater has been swapped from housing to housing over the years.
I am pretty sure what you are looking at is what I am thinking about. The guy that made them used to have a link on repeater builder also if I am not mistaken. Do a little searching and I bet you will find his information. I have even seen him selling on eBay.

Yeah, I would never rely on the # on the cabinet alone. Any body have any idea what the coax deal is?

Re: Motorola Base ????
The Model # T1786B indicates that the cabinet came from a Analog Spectra-Tac comparator and the Serial # would start with 273 3 letters and 4 numbers although I do not think this is what you have. It's definitely not a Motorola Specialty Product from Schaumburg or Florida's SP Groups. It's most likely some hogde podge creation from a two-way radio shop. Good Luck getting the unit up and operating.
