Hello all,
I have a GM300 VHF remote mounted in my SUV. It is connected via a ribbon cable to the control head at the front of the vehicle. Tge radio is also connected via a crossband repeater cable to a GM300 UHF radio for portable operation.
Whenever the temp drops some, I can turn on the radio and the display will show "88" while the monitor and scan LED is lit. The radio will receive and transmit fine on its designated channel, but I can't see the channel correctly. This has been happening for a while, all Winter. When I turn the vehicle heater on for a while, the problem would go away and the radio would return back to a normal state.
Now, what is weird is that I can extract and reload the codeplug back into the radio with frequencies and the problem goes away, only to return again at a later date. This gets quite annoying when I have a late-night call, jump into the SUV, turn the radio on and realize the thing is screwed up at the moment with "88"... but I can transmit and receive as should. I have also noticed that the last time it done this, I could select User 2 priority when I don't even have it programmed.. weird.
I have read other posts about temp problems and the GM300, but they don't say anything about the display. I was wondering if anyone knows what I could try to resolve the situation.
By the way, I removed the crossband cable for a while and it does the same thing. Thanks for your help!

Re: Motorola GM300 Display Problem - Shows "88" At Times
UPDATE
At times, the radio display will go out and when I cycle power using the rotary knob, it beeps twice with about a second delay in between both beeps
I can reseat the ribbon cable with the power OFF and it still does the same thing, but if I disconnect the ribbon cable with radio ON then it will go back to normal... until sometime later. It is crazy.
