Is this Euro PS spkr/mic compatible with an XTS radio?
From the photo I can't tell whether or not it has the thingie to push in
the antenna transfer switch. Seller SAYS it'll work with an HT1000.

The connector for the XTS has a different RF setup. That is why the adapter is needed. It may work as just a mic but not with the antenna.
Re: Is this Euro PS spkr/mic compatible with an XTS radio?
You'd have to remove the large silver pin on the connector that pushes that transfer button in so you can fit it on the XTS radio. It would then operate otherwise as a normal none PSM mic but at that point; its lost its appeal. I have one of those European PSM's on my MT2000 and it works very well, no mod needed, using mic antenna. They will work on MT6000e's, HT1000's, MT(s)2000's etc.

Now I know. Thanks to all who responded. Looks as if I'm
stuck with the old square PS spkr/mic. "Not that there's
anything wrong with that," as Seinfeld would say.

I seem to remember a lot of discussion about recalls on the jedi style mic's with antenna's on them. I think that info has been posted on here, but honestly, I don't have time to do some digging.

Alex,
I think I saw something about that with the coil cord. The Brits used these for years. I dont know why M didn't offer that style here.

We've had these for a long time now they were issued along with the MT6000E's & MTS2000's in the mid 90's. They seem to work well.FireCpt809 wrote:Alex,

I had a few NOS ones a couple years ago. They were pretty neat, but I "modded" (aka removed the RF pins and metal plunger) so that it could be used as a regular RSM. They looked cool, but I recall that the coil cord screwed with the RF. I think I gave one of mine to Seth.

"Is this Euro PS spkr/mic compatible with an XTS radio?" NO... This is for Jedi, HT1000, MT2000, MTSX, series radios.

What's stopping you from, say, getting one of those and swapping connectors with a domestic XTS PSM?
You might could even figure out the pinout for a Commander speaker mic and get the side buttons on those to work like the Commander buttons.

Do the two black side buttons correspond to the . and .. buttons below the teal button on the JEDI radios? I'm guessing the orange button is self explanatory.

On my "euro psm" the two black buttons raise and lower the volume of the speaker mic, currently the orange emergency button does nothing on my MT2000, and in fact I haven't seen anywhere in the RSS that references an external sp/mic emergency button. I presumed it would take on the functionality of the radios emergency button assignment (which in my case is repeater/direct), but no love; its not a big deal though, having a volume control on the sp/mic is good enough for me.

Most that were delivered and had the coiled cable had to have it replaced with straight cable as it affected RF like you say.Rayjk110 wrote:I had a few NOS ones a couple years ago. The picture on fleabay shows a straight cable instead of coiled. Hopefully I'll know for sure Tuesday or Wednesday.

I just received the mic, it is in fact the straight cable. I believe it is the long cable.
Using mine with an MTS2000, volume up and down works great, but as noted above, the orange button does not mimick the radio's orange button. I actually think I'm glad it doesn't work. I wasn't too crazy about having an emergency button that close to the up-down vol buttons.
