MT1500 QC II alert tone

Post by milhouse »

Hope I'm in the right area of the board here.

For years my agency has used VHF models of the MT1000, then the HT1000, with the QC-II decoding, for alerting our volunteers. Now, of course, we need to purchase some new radios. We've been evaluating the MT1500.

Problem is, QC-II decoding (at least for us) on the MT1500 doesn't give much of an alert tone. In fact all you get is a soft little "beep-beep", which itself is volume-dependent. Then the radio opens and you hear voice.

My vendor reports he can't find in the RSS, how to change that setting for the alert tone. In the HT/VISAR RSS it's right there (we have it)...any idea where it is for this model?

If we can't get an alert tone, the volunteers won't wake up during the night.

Thanks for any and all advice.

These can be adjusted as follows:

Open codeplug -> Radio Configuration -> Radio Wide Options -> Alert Tones

Perhaps the fixed alert tone box has been checked, perhaps the maximum alert tone is set too low, perhaps the radio has an older firmware version and requires a refresh.

Thanks for the help on this issue. I had to get the later version of the CPS, then the option was there.

On to another issue, same radio (MT1500). Possible to have different Rx and Tx signalling system on one personality with this radio? Can't seem to figure it out. Our HT1000s have QC-II decoding on one channel (to alert our volunteers) and MDC signalling on all channels for PTT-ID, including the alert channel.

Can't seem to get it this way on the MT1500. Any thoughts??

Thanks.
