TRBO repeater accessory connector

TRBO repeater accessory connector
Is the accessory connector pinout the same for the repeater as the mobile? What is the part number for a connector to use with an accessory for the repeater? Does any one have any notes on hooking up a multi PL panel to the TRBO repeater?

Re: TRBO repeater accessory connector
1. No.
2. Unknown.
3. What is the point? You cannot use an external repeater controller with the digital voice, and a MotoTRBO repeater is pretty expensive to use as a garden-variety low-power analog repeater. In addition, I do not recall a programming option to defeat the internal controller, which is a prerequisite to using an external controller.

Re: TRBO repeater accessory connector
I have a Trbo repeater and no digital plans for it. The continuous duty on the transmitter seems like it would be a good multi-user repeater to replace a R1225.

Re: TRBO repeater accessory connector
Motorola cancelled the GR1225/R1225 and suggests either the Mototrbo or MTR2000 as a replacement. No mention of the CDR700 from them, though it should be just as viable..RKG wrote:3. Re: TRBO repeater accessory connector
Once again, a MotoTRBO repeater is approx $500 cheaper dealer cost to us than a similarly equipped GR1225 (battery revert circuit, rack mount, power supply) was. Every mobile comes with a baggie with the accessory connector housing & a bunch of pins & removal tool. I'll look at the part# on the bag tomorrow, if I think of it.RKG wrote:a MotoTRBO repeater is pretty expensive to use as a garden-variety low-power analog repeater.
The newest firmware & CPS version 3.0 is needed to see the extra options. I don't know for a fact it's an option since I haven't looked yet, but again it's something I can check at work if I think of it. I'm assuming it's there, simply because they accessory connector was enabled in analog mode specifically to allow adding things like tone & LTR controllers, phone line interfaces, etc.RKG wrote: I do not recall a programming option to defeat the internal controller, which is a prerequisite to using an external controller.

Re: TRBO repeater accessory connector
I should have disclosed that I have not taken the time to install the latest CD. In fact, I don't know whether that upgrade includes an option to convert an analog MotoTRBO repeater from "Repeater" to "Station" (such as one can do with MTRs and Quantars).
However, I have never claimed to have been shot at while deplaning in Bosnia.

Re: TRBO repeater accessory connector
TRBO accessory connector is part number PMLN5072A.
I down loaded update package. Is this CPS or firmware update?
If this is firmware, can I use my PMKN4010A USB cable?
Is there an instruction sheet for updating the TRBO?

Re: TRBO repeater accessory connector
You need to do both, really. If you update the radio firmware, you cannot access the extra features such as digital privacy, repeater accessory connector, etc without the latest CPS...version 3, build 80-something.arlojanis wrote: I down loaded update package. Is this CPS or firmware update?
Sure can.arlojanis wrote: If this is firmware, can I use my PMKN4010A USB cable?
It's a little different than the professional series. It's not a separate software to do the update, it is done through the CPS. You need to run the executable file that you downloaded from MOL. It will install & integrate itself into the CPS. You then connect the radio to the computer, then go to the "update" option in one of the CPS menus along the top. The CPS will read the firmware package in the radio, and then it will search for a matching installed firmware update in it's files. If it finds the appropriate one, it will display it in a small box. You click on it, then click OK to start the process. It takes about 3-5 minutes for a portable/mobile, and about 12 minutes for a repeater (about 9-10 minutes of that time is spent with the progress bar at 97% for the repeater...don't interrupt it!!).arlojanis wrote: Is there an instruction sheet for updating the TRBO?

Re: TRBO repeater accessory connector
Just to confirm, there is indeed an "internal repeat disable" option in analog mode with the latest firmware & CPS versions. There are also options for flat/filtered audio & a few other things I cannot recall at the moment.

Re: TRBO repeater accessory connector
Can anyone tell me about the telemetry input and outputs for the moblie trbos my people want to configure it in a mixer truck they want to know the direction the drum is turning if that helps anyone ?
Re: TRBO repeater accessory connector
The drum must be set-up with some sort of mechanism which can give a high or low indication depending on which direction the drum is turning. For instance, if it's turning clockwise it outputs a 5-volt or 12-volt 'high'...when turning counter-clockwise it outputs zero or near-zero volts 'low'. This output can then be used to trigger one of the telemetry input pins on the TRBO mobile, which in turn can send a message to a target radio to indicate the change of state. I'm not going into too many details, as the CPS help files concerning setting up telemetry are quite comprehensive.
