Hello everybody, I hope someone can helpme, I want to know what surveillance mode refers to in a MTX5000 portable, Thank you.

First of all, what exact radio are you using? You have XTS in the heading
and MTX in the body of the message.
I don't set surv. mode on my 5K radios but I've always believed that it means
the radio is set for silent monitor and the display light, keypad light, channel
selector light, and top LED are turned off and don't function.

Yea, it makes you go stealth. Disables lights, backlighting, tones and alerts, and the internal speaker.

It's the same feature they put into the i580 Iden devices...nice in situations, awkward in others.
