Re: GP380 Test 2 Failed
Hi.
I work in a service department and i've seen this happen when some of the younger new guy's try and flash a radio without bootstrapping it properly or interrupt power to the radio during firmware upgrade.
It's quite hard to recover a radio from a TEST 2 FAIL error.
Have you tried read/writing it with the CPS software?
Or tried flash upgrading the firmware?
Or reading it with the Tuner software?
These errors are usually a result of some form of corruption to either the Eprom, the firmware, the codeplug or to the tuning data.
What version CPS are you using to try and read it?
Please don't say version D03.02.01 (lol) as we have so many problems from people sending in equipment that has become corrupt/crashed by using this version that people get from the internet! UK models should be read with software version numbers ending in _EN for example: R03.06.07_EN. The latest version released here is R03.08.03_EN.
I don't know much about the D03.02.01 version other than it is a very early release, is found on the internet and therefore lots of people download it and experiment with it causing more problems than good by reading radios with it that are far far newer than that release and it probably shouldn't be used on anything with a version 3 or newer codeplug. The fact it starts with a Dxx.xx.xx rather than a Rxx.xx.xx makes it rather suspect!!!
What version firmware and codeplug are in the radio?
What happened prior to it displaying this error???
I have seen one or two that this happened to after being dropped but my bet is on the fact an error was made whilst connected to a pc.
Worst case scenario: it will have to go off to Motorola Germany (I'm assuming you live in the UK as this is where UK dealers have to send their service equipment too if it cannot be repaired in-house)
Sending it to Motorola can be very costly as they will charge the same as a "physical damage" repair for putting right a corrupt radio. Maybe because they replace the whole board should it prove to be unrecoverable...
PM me if you like or reply back on this thread. Hopefully you can get it going again otherwise I can probably help you. No promises, but i'll at least give it a try for you!

UR AVERAGE LIFE EXPECTANCY RAPIDLY DEGRADES THE MINUTE U BECOME A SERVICE ENGINEER
Dropping a radio into a toilet filled with "used" water is NOT "slight water damage"
PLEASE don't send it in for repair! (Or at least drain it first)
