NTN5517 (antenna adapter cable) & Astro Saber

Post by MotoFAN »

Hi all!

I have a NTN5517 antenna adapter cable with BNC connector:

I tried it with my Astro Sabers (VHF & UHF models) and it doesn't works.

And I have found the reason! The adapter connector simply has no dowel which could press on actuator (antenna switch).

What is the trouble? NTN5517 it is not intended for work with Astro Saber? Then for what it is intended (on the Internet practically there is no information about this adapter cable)?
I am biggest fan of XTS2500 and ASTRO Digital Saber.

Will,

Don't you think that it's possible that the cable he has was made
for a standard Motorola Saber that has an internal sensing circuit
that switches the antenna to the outboard connector instead of
the way the Astro Saber switches the antenna?

To my way of thinking that would be the only reason for there to
be no plastic actuator pin on the connector.

My year 2000 parts book lists this number with an "A" on the end
but otherwise is no help.

Yes, the reason has appeared in it is a cable for Saber, NOT for Astro Saber :(
