I am hoping you may be able to give me some insight on the anouncement group funcion for Motorola Type II system.
Is this just a one way talkgroup; would this work for my organization the following set up.
1. ANOUNCEMENT GROUP 181 on all radions with thier idividual talk group i.e. 183 and 185.
2. one radio programed with Talkgroup 181 (same as anouncement group).
3. when anouncement needs to be made it is done with this one radio at dispatch.

It will work the way you envision it. Some notes to consider:westcom wrote:I am hoping you may be able to give me some insight on the anouncement group funcion for Motorola Type II system.

1) Program the 'announcement' radio with "ATG" for the talkgroup in the zone/channel assignment. If you simply set it as "181", the system treats it as a regular talkgroup call. When it goes out as an announcement call and the affiliated talkgroups are in use (in your case 183 & 185), the system will give you a busy until both talkgroups are free, ensuring all radios hear your call. This leads to point #2...
2) A "multi-group" needs to be set-up in the central controller, designating 181 as the announcement group. The 'affiliate' command is used to affiliate talkgroups 183 & 185 as part of the multi-group.
As far as whether it's a "one way" talkgroup...sort of. It really is meant for making one-way announcements, but in actuality you will hear voice traffic from all other talkgroups within the same personality. So, people can respond to you & you will hear them.
