CDM 1250 Programming

Post by tarheel3559 »

I have a question....I'm new to programming radios, however I purchased a CDM1250 and also purchased a ribless cable and CPS from Motorola. What do i need to do to get the computer to recognize the radio? How do I power the radio so that I can turn it on while its hooked to the computer? As I said, I'm new at this and looking for some guidance.

In most cases, you need to power the radio from the rear 2 pin connector there. One side is tied to the
chassis and the other is the hot wire. DO NOT GET THESE WIRES REVERSED.

If you have the correct RSS (CPS) software, you need to start it and then set the com port that
the program is looking for the connection to the radio. You didn't say if you have a serial port
cable or a USB port cable. Either way the program needs to be told what port your using.

If you get the program started, the click on the file selection on the top left of the screen. Select
"Read Device" and another screen window will come up. Then select the "COM" port your using.
Do this with the interface cable connected to the radio and the computer. Make sure the radio
is turned on. If your using a USB port, it is all the way at the bottom of the selections.

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

it sounds like you want to do this before you have the radio installed in the car correct? installing it first would be your best option but if you don't have a laptop and have to use a desktop you will need some kind of 12v power supply or a car battery to power it up.
