spectra System 9000 question

Post by proff »

giday from Australia.
I have a cutomers Spectra system 9000
the faults with it from the start was that he applied the DC power reversed with no fuse.
I found the 5v reg and the reversed protection diode both fault> replaced them both
i have no service manual
Right now i have no display on the remote head. The driver has inputs but i can not find the clock signal and so it has no output and no display.
Anyone got any ideas?

Allen,

First let me issue my standard disclaimer stating that I am lazy. That having been said, if you have a reverse voltage issue with obvious damage, I would start by swapping control heads with another known good one. Try to get the drawer working first. After that, I would not spend much time on the broken control head and would just replace it with another HCN1063 or HCN1073. They are available used.

It just depends upon how much pain you want to endure for the time or what the customer will pay. I don't know what parts availability is like down under, but there's a large amount of parts for X9000/Spectra that are NLA upon exhaust here.

I know it's not much help and probably stating the obvious, but this type of issue is a toss and replace more than repair and return to service just for the two issues I mentioned.

Wake me when I need to go home.
