Help with BMS, model TDN9430A

Post by stacks »

Older Motorola BMS unit, I need to know if I can upgrade the eprom so I can use it to charge Ni-MH batteries for the HT600. And if it can be upgraded where do I get the parts or how do I upgrade it? When the unit first comes on looks like the current software version is 1.7. The battery cups I have now are TDN9441A, If I am looking at the correct prom it has UNC5812AF on the top line and on the second line a script A followed by a triangle and the numbers 9235.

The TDN9430 was built for Motorola by Itech Engineering. Check their website at http://www.itecheng.com, or call them at 800-233-6868 for info on whether an eprom upgrade is available. The battery adapter cups are available through any of their distributors including Tessco(http://www.tessco.com).

OK I got the new eprom and upgraded the unit. I am using TND9441A battery cups, trying to charge some anderson batteries(aftermarket) number ADSM-5414H. The batteries are Ni-MH. But when the battery goes in the charged I do not get the "N" on the display indicating the unit is charging a Ni-MH battery. Do I need a different battery cup? Or do I not get the "N" because it is an aftermarket battery. Or is there something else going on that I have misssed??????

All the NiMH adapters I've seen for use in the Itech units need 3 connection points with the battery; two for + and -, and one for the thermistor inside the battery. The NiCD adapters had only two connection points with the battery, + and -. If you don't see any indication on the display most likely you're not using the correct adapter for your battery. Another look at the adapter chart on the Itech website or a call to their customer service is in order.

You are correct, I need some new battey cups. I need a few BA4545 and what I have is BA2074 and BA2034 and TDN9441A. Anyone know a source for some good used cups??? Or anyone want to trade. I already checked on Ebay with no luck.
