Broadcast on all channels

We are using CDM 1250 and GM 160 radios as base units and MTR2000 as repeaters,and HT750 and HT 1250 and GM 380 and GP140 hand held radios. What we want to do is set it up where a base unit and only a couple of them can broadcast a message on all freq at one time so they don't have to make the same announcement on all 16 channels. I have heard this was a possibility on these radios but can't for the life of me find the place in the CPS to turn it on or figure it out. Any help will be much appreciated.

you want to simulcast. where is the signal originating from, is disbatch broadcasting right from the repeater or console or from a remote mobile or portable

I think some general information about your infrastructure would be helpful....

Are you using an LTR system with these radios? Or is this a conventional (simplex, base station, or repeater based operation?)

If it's LTR, I'm sure one of the LTR experts can possibly explain how to setup an announcement talk group if LTR supports it, but I think that's something that has to be configured on the controller side, and possibly some code plug changes on the radios.

If it's conventional, you'd need to have 1 radio per channel and use a console with multi-select to choose all or select channels to rebroadcast your message over. This obviously becomes somewhat expensive, but it would be what your looking for.

In the LTR world, it's called a Universal ID. Used like the Announcement TG on a Moto trunk system.

...and it works rather well, or as about as well as an LTR system will in a public safety instance.

Simulcast is transmitting on 1 freq from multiple tx sites, sounds like he wants to multicast, ie tx from one mic to multiple freqs. If he is in a conventional system he would need a transmiter for each channel or wireline control of his mtr repeaters and a console to multiselect them.

Thanks for all the questions and input but unfortunately we are using a conventional system no control just stand alone repeaters and no wire line. And we don't have a control console so it is going to be almost impossible with what we have i am afraid. We have several different CDM 1250's set up as base stations but no control units and the repeaters are remotely located away from every thing due to the hostile environment we are in. I also for got to mention i am trying to do this in Iraq in a remote camp so its kind of how should i say patched together system. What i have come up with that i hope works doing more testing on it. Is make a channel on the radios that is scan all the time and receive only that the hand held and normal radios will scan all the time and give the transmit to a few select stations to make the all call announcements on that way it will go out to all and make it the priority channel so it over rides all others. I hope this works but we will see with out haveing line control or trunked system its kind of hard to do the fancy stuff.

I would make a scan list which cannot be turned off, or is part of every system, or is auto-scanned by each channel that has an "all call" frequency/PL set up. This way the radio is constantly looking back onto that frequency for activity, and reverts back if someone keys up on the "annoucement" channel. If you do not enable a button on the radio to enable/disable scan, and have each channel autoscan that list...you will essentially get what you need. Then it's only a matter of installing a control station or a transmitter to make those broadcasts.
