Maxtrac Remote Mount; No Power?

Post by W3MOT »

Greetings all,

I recently purchased a Remote Mount Kit for a Motorola Maxtrac. I hooked the kit up and tried powering the radio and it wouldn't turn on. I took the kit off of the radio and tried powering it on again and it worked fine; so the problem definitely lies within the kit. Pictures are below. Please tell me if something I'm doing is incorrect. I know that there are two extra pins on the remote side, and two extra pin holes on the brain side, but I don't know if this means I have the wrong kit or not... Someone more experienced could possibly give me an answer...

You can see that there are two extra pins

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks!

Hello Firerescue3120:
I dug out one of my Radius GM300 remote mount kits and compared it to yours you posted the picture of.
And unfortunately mine macthes yours exactly for the circuit paths and pins ect.
You do have a remote mount for the GM300/M120/series and its not intended for the Maxtrac.
The GM300/M120 series plastic that you show should have a mold number in one corner and if its #15D80687B01 then again its a GM300 remote kit.
I do have two of the front radio remote mounts for the Maxtrac line here and they are steel with the circuit bd having an extra relay on it which your kit is missing.
If you want you can PM me your email address and ill send you a picture of the Maxtrac front remote kit that goes on the radio.
Its probably feasabile to take these two peices and make one complete Maxtrac kit if you were inclined to rewire the one pc.
If your looking to get rid of the GM300 remote mount kit = Contact me .

Sat,
thanks a lot for the input. Looks like you're definitely correct as I confirmed that Product number you were talking about and it is in fact consistent with the number that I have on my Kit. I didn't quite get what you were saying, are you looking to take this off my hands? I wouldn't mind as I have no use for it... so just say the word. I kinda realized this was the wrong kit when I hooked it back up to the radio today and it still didn't work. So i took it off once again and tried powering up the radio itself, and it wouldn't power up. The Pico fuse must've blown - fortuntely I had an extra Ig. Sense cable so I ran that and now it's working okay... Hopefully it'll stay like that.. I might just say 'screw it' and go over to CDM's...

Thanks again for the help!

Just as a note of interest, the reason for the two extra pins on the GM series connector is that they run the speaker through that connector instead of from a separate connector like the Maxtracs do.

Hello Firerescue3120:
Yes id be interested in taking it off your hands.
I mistakenly typed in the wrong word (Maxtrac ) when i meant GM300.
I will edit it for corection.
But yes you do have a GM300 remote mount kit.
PM or email me and lets get a deal done.
I do not have use for the two maxtrac radio remote pieces and if you wanted them they can be yours.
